TMJ & FIGHT/FLIGHT/FREEZE/SURVIVAL

July 10, 2019

Grind your teeth in your sleep? Clench your jaw and have sore/tight jaw muscles? Been given botox or a mouth guard for your jaw (which doesn’t address the root cause and acts like a band-aid) to fix it?.

When the body experiences a trauma (physical/emotional/mental/spiritual), it reacts by activating the fight/flight/freeze/ survival mode. Specific muscles are involved in this, depending on which state the person goes into.

The Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) muscles are always involved. This is due to the jaw muscles locking up, in order to protect the brain and spinal column. The two main jaw muscles, the Masseter and Temporalis, affect over 90% of the rest of the body.

Tension on these muscles of the jaw, create a neurological domino effect, which can have devastating effects on every system in the body, and lead to issues such as structural and neurological imbalances, kidney stress, chronic fatigue, migraines, dehydration, chronic mineral deficiency (magnesium/zinc), hormone imbalance, digestive problems, low thyroid, heavy metal retention, viruses, allergies, arthritis, fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue and more.

Oh! Experience back pain? Did you know that the front of the Masseter affects the Psoas muscle, which relates to the kidneys? Psoas imbalance is by far the most common cause of lower back pain as it attaches to T12 and L1-L5. Correct your jaw, and it may just help with your back!

Kinergetics TMJ corrections get to the causes of your issues, by releasing TMJ tension and clearing the physiological impact of past trauma. If you experience physical jaw symptoms and would like to know more, connect with me.
